Two years later and here we are. A lot has happened since I wrote you last. Some of it has been good, some bad, some great and some horrific. We lost our Prince. A heartbreaking topic for another time. However through it all Black Alternative Music endures. Y'all sure as hell ain't stopped rock'n out there. That is the thing about blackness, like space, it never ends! So it is with Axe To Grind 2017.
Two years ago we came close to making this event happen. This year however, the baby will be delivered. Rock will return home to what I anticipate will be a warm welcome Saturday October 7, 2017 at The Peacock Lounge in San Francisco. He will not be alone. He is bringing some musical family with him and they go'n stay-while.
Quart of Blood Technique
The Jamming Nachos
Stymie & The Pimp Jones Love Orchestra
The Punk Funk Mob
Oakland Future Trio
Each of whom are bringing some axes to grind. You can believe that! This promises to be a very special night for brother Rock. Y'all go'n see his sistas there too, on stage...going hard!
This will be (in this era and of my knowledge) the first ever Black Alternative Music show of its kind here in SF and if we are so blessed it will be the first of many. Don't want to get ahead of ourselves but my mom always told me "you get what you say out of your mouth son." I have come to believe that. Another way of looking at it would be if you can see it, you can make it happen. Well, I am saying it because I see it, now it is time to make it happen!
That's what we intend to do. Looking forward to seeing all of you there at The Peacock Lounge.
Come early! Door opens at 7PM. Get to know your people. Have some fun! It is an all ages event. That means the young and the use-to-be young can both meet at the bar but adult bevs are for adults only.
Show starts at 8! Again, Rock is looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces and so am I.
